True Freedom

True freedom lies not in conformity, but in audacity—the audacity to be ourselves, to chase dreams, and to move to our unique rhythm. So, dare to break chains, to explore, and to carve your path. In that daring, you discover the boundless expanse of your spirit.

Often, due to self-doubts or just by being a sheep, we adhere to avoid thinking for ourselves and listen to others' opinions, and stories. Such attitudes have led to shallow thinking, a kind of blind faith in accepting what's around us and what's taught to us. On whom should the blame rest? Ourselves or the societal institutions and norms that are claimed to be gold-based standards!

With such acceptance, our minds lose their potential and focus and tend to get dull over time. We become a shadow of ourselves, unable, often unwilling to step out and be free. How then, can we break free?

The Singular Idea

As in life, initially taking small steps one-at-a-time, is a sure way to regain self-belief and ensure progress. Success lies in choosing a single idea—a purpose, a vision, or a goal—that resonates deeply with you. Something, you love and are comfortable with. It could be anything: creating art, solving a scientific mystery, building a business, or advocating for a cause. Some may say, that imagination, which is widely accepted as a re-creation of past ideas is for the weak.

Make this idea your only focus, dedicate your time to its start, growth, and support. Let it guide your actions, decisions, and aspirations.

Own it, love it, take responsibility

It’s not merely a passing thought; avoid thinking that you can visit it later. Give it time, some moments, give it some thinking, as you would eat ice cream. If you think, that it's for you, make it your life’s mission. Breathe it, wake up with it, and carry it through each day. You could say, well, all this is good to read and hear, but, that's where you are wrong. Why do you admire others who are successful? Did you think, they woke up one day and became successful? It took serious hard work to get there. If you hear otherwise, don't accept it. Success is not a true success if it comes cheap and easy.

Dream of it, visualize success

Dreaming and visualizing success is like having a backstage pass to the grand theater of life. It’s NOT about wishful thinking; it’s about creating mental blueprints that pave the way for your dreams to become reality. Let's explore some real-life success stories—from the 1900s to today—that demonstrate the power of dreaming and visualization.

Visualization?

Jim Carrey’s $10 Million Check

In the early 1990s, Jim Carrey was a struggling actor. He wrote himself a check for $10 million, dated it a few years ahead, and kept it in his wallet. He visualized himself as a successful Hollywood star and worked hard towards it. Lo and behold, in 1994, he starred in “Dumb and Dumber” and received a $10 million paycheck—the exact amount he had written on that check. Remember, he worked hard towards it.

Michael Jordan’s Game-Winning Shots

Before every game, basketball legend Michael Jordan would visualize himself sinking the game-winning shot. He’d see the ball swish through the net, feel the crowd’s roar, and taste victory. His mental rehearsals translated into reality on the court, earning him a spot in the NBA Hall of Fame.

Dhirubhai Ambani

The founder of Reliance Industries, Dhirubhai Ambani, started his journey with a small textile business. He dreamed of building a business empire and visualized his success, which led him to establish one of India’s largest conglomerates.

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

India’s 11th President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, came from a humble background and dreamed of contributing to his country’s space and nuclear capabilities. His visualization of India’s technological advancement played a significant role in shaping his efforts, leading to his pivotal role in India’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests.

The Science Behind It

Visualization isn’t magic; it’s science. When you vividly imagine success, your brain rewires itself. It starts with seeking opportunities aligned with your mental images. Neurons fire, motivation surges, and you work towards your visualization and become a magnet for the very things you’ve envisioned. So, dream smart, dream big, visualize boldly, and watch your backstage pass transform into a front-row seat at the show of your life.

These individuals not only dreamed and visualized their success but also put in the hard work and dedication to turn their visions into achievements, inspiring many others to follow in their footsteps.

Total Commitment

Use your mental faculties—imagination, creativity, and problem-solving to achieve your goal. You must be consumed by this idea. Let it occupy your thoughts. Physical effort is essential. Whether it’s planning, doing the things that need doing, reiterating, or working on it, your body must be an instrument for realizing that idea. Put in the work, even when it’s challenging.

Remember, you will be anxious. Embrace discomfort. Fear and uncertainty are normal and there lies the possibility to better yourself. No human has embraced success without fear or uncertainty. It's just that they have NOT shared it. But, they are wiser, nonetheless. You should always be in tune with the pursuit of your idea.

Distraction Management

Leave every other idea alone or prioritize them. Focus on the most important idea and you will not be diverted. Avoid spreading yourself. Say no to endeavors that don’t align with your chosen path or put them off to be completed on another day. Successful people often exhibit tunnel vision. They filter out everything else and stay committed to their core idea.

Encapsulates the essence of liberation and courage.

It beckons us to break free from constraints—whether societal norms, fears, or self-imposed limitations. To dare is to embrace authenticity, to unfurl our wings and soar beyond boundaries. It invites us to live unapologetically, guided by our inner compass. Living unapologetically translates to being committed to achieving goals through fairness, open-mindedness, and without causing harm.
